The Catch Up: April 2025
April has absolutely flown by! Maybe it was the long Easter weekend, the glorious weather, or that creeping sense of burnout, but I definitely didn’t tick everything off my to-do list last month. I found myself moving at a slightly slower pace, and honestly, I regret not taking a proper break to reset. That said, I did start the month on a high note with an exciting trip to Italy to visit our main hoop manufacturers.
It’s taken me years to find these guys. Because of our brand values, I’ve always had strong constraints on who we can work with. The quality has to be exceptional- we’re making pieces to last. The people we partner with need to hold strong ethical standards, work with recycled metals, be willing to accommodate our smaller order volumes, and most importantly, treat us with mutual respect. As a woman in business, you wouldn’t believe some of the treatment I’ve faced from suppliers over the years.
The hoops this manufacturer produces are our bread-and-butter product. If you own a pair, you’ll know exactly what I mean when I say the quality is second to none. This trip really reaffirmed that. The region has been making jewellery since Roman times, and that craftsmanship has been passed down through generations. I was giddy with excitement walking through their facilities—it felt like a real turning point in our partnership, and I left more inspired than ever.
Doing things the right way is rarely the easiest route. Recycled metals cost more. So does solid gold. It would certainly have been faster and cheaper to work with suppliers who didn’t share our values. But that’s never been what Catch Rhys is about. I didn’t set out to build the biggest brand or scale at lightning speed, I set out to build something thoughtful, responsible, and lasting. If you’re here, it’s likely that you care about that too, and it means the world to have you in our corner.
