The Catch Up: January 2025

Controversially, I love January! I love the opportunities it brings—to reflect, plan, and hopefully improve. I’m big on organisation: Notion boards, physical planners (I currently have three on my desk), and generally working on the business rather than in it. Though, in reality, I always end up doing both, which means double the workload.

Which brings me to a realisation I had during my planning sessions: if I want to see different results, I need to do things differently. To scale, I can’t be involved in everything—I have to delegate and outsource more. And that terrifies me. Mainly because I’m naturally quite frugal and very risk-averse. But business requires taking risks, spending money, and hoping it pays off. So, it looks like the biggest work needed is on my mindset.

One thing I’ve been actively working on is facing things that scare me head-on. In fact, if something scares me, it probably means I should do it. I really embraced this in January, and I have to say—it paid off. I put myself out there, reached out to people, asked for help, and was surprised at how many positive responses I received. That in itself built momentum, giving me the courage to keep going.

So, what’s ahead for Catch Rhys?

First up, we’ve got an exciting launch next week for Valentine’s: we’re introducing the option to buy a single hoop across the entire range. This has been highly requested (because, heartbreakingly, losing a hoop is all too common), and I’ve wanted to do it for years. There are also a few new products in the pipeline—very much in the Catch Rhys wheelhouse of classics done really well. Plus, I have something special planned later in the year to give back to our amazing customers.

Looking at the bigger picture, I see 2025 as a transformative year for Catch Rhys. It feels like the right time to establish ourselves as a key player in the UK jewellery scene. I’m refining our brand positioning, messaging, and vision, as I’ve noticed a subtle shift recently. Our core values remain the same—I just want to ensure our message is crystal clear as we reach a wider audience. If you’re reading this, you probably already get what makes us special in an oversaturated market. But the real challenge? Communicating that consistently when, on the surface, all gold hoops look the same.

On that note, I have a favour to ask. What is it about Catch Rhys that made you want to be here? Or is there anything in the jewellery world that frustrates you—something we could help solve? Your support is the reason we exist, so I’d love to hear from you. Just email us!
